About PDF Editor

The PDF Editor shows each page of your document and lets you place text blocks directly on it, so you can fill in a form, add a note, or cover and replace a piece of text. It is aimed at quick, practical edits rather than rewriting a whole document.

The editor loads your PDF in the browser with pdf.js, extracts the existing text so you can edit it in place, and saves the result using pdf-lib. Your file is not sent to a server.

How to use the PDF Editor

  1. Click the upload area and choose a PDF.
  2. Select the page you want to edit using Previous and Next.
  3. Click anywhere on the page to add a text block, or click existing text to edit it.
  4. Adjust the text and colour in the side panel. Use the zoom buttons or Ctrl and scroll to zoom, and hold Shift while dragging to pan.
  5. Save the PDF to download the edited copy.

What it can do

Click-to-add text

Place new text anywhere on a page and style its colour.

Edit existing text

Extracted text blocks can be changed; the original is covered by a white overlay and replaced.

Zoom and pan

Zoom controls and pan gestures make small print easy to work with.

Local editing

The document is processed in your browser.

When it is useful

  • Filling in a non-interactive form by typing over the blank fields.
  • Correcting a typo or date in a PDF when you no longer have the source file.
  • Adding a short note or label to a page before sending it on.

Good to know

  • Edited text is placed over a white block, so it suits plain backgrounds better than photos or coloured areas.
  • Fonts are matched approximately. Text you add may not look identical to the original typeface.
  • Scanned PDFs have no editable text. You can still add text on top of the page.
  • For heavy editing of layout, work from the original source document instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.Can I edit the existing text in a PDF?
Yes for text-based PDFs. The tool extracts the text blocks and lets you change them. The original text is covered by a white overlay and your new text is placed in its position.
Q.Why does edited text have a white box behind it?
That is how the replacement works: the old text is covered and the new text is drawn on top. On coloured or photographic backgrounds the box will be visible.
Q.Can I edit a scanned PDF?
There is no text to extract in a scan, but you can click and add new text on top of the page image.
Q.Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Loading, editing and saving all happen in your browser.
Q.Does it change fonts?
New text uses a standard font. It may not match the original typeface exactly.
Q.How do I zoom in on a page?
Use the zoom buttons or hold Ctrl and scroll. Hold Shift and drag to move around a zoomed page.
Q.Can I add images or signatures?
The editor focuses on text. For images, convert the page to an image, edit it, and combine the images back to a PDF.
