About Stopwatch / Timer

The Stopwatch is a simple, accurate online timer that counts minutes, seconds and hundredths of a second. Start, pause and reset it with big buttons, record lap times with a tap, and expand it to full screen so it can be read from across a room or on a projector.

It needs no installation and runs entirely in your browser, which makes it handy for workouts, cooking, presentations, classroom activities, study sessions and anything else where you need to measure how long something takes.

How to use the Stopwatch / Timer

  1. Press the green play button to start timing.
  2. Press the flag button while running to record a lap. Laps are listed with the newest on top.
  3. Press pause to stop the clock, and play again to continue.
  4. Press the reset button to clear the time and laps. Use Fullscreen for a large display.

Good to know

  • Browsers can slow timers in background tabs, so keep the tab visible for precise measurements.
  • Laps record the total elapsed time at the moment you press the flag, not the time since the previous lap.
  • The display shows up to 59 minutes 59 seconds before the minutes roll over.
  • This is a convenience tool, not a certified timing instrument for competitions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.How accurate is the online stopwatch?
It updates every 10 milliseconds and is accurate for everyday use. Browser scheduling and background tab throttling can introduce small drift, so it is not suitable for official timing.
Q.Does it keep running if I switch tabs?
It may be throttled by the browser when the tab is in the background. Keep the tab open and visible for best accuracy.
Q.How do I record a lap?
Press the flag button while the watch is running. The elapsed total is added to the lap list.
Q.Can I show it full screen?
Yes. Click Fullscreen above the display for a large view and use the close button to return.
Q.Does it make a sound?
No. It is a silent stopwatch. For countdown alarms use your device’s timer app.
Q.Is anything stored?
No. Times and laps exist only on the page and disappear when you reset or close it.
