About Text Case Converter

The Text Case Converter changes the capitalisation of any text with a single click: UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case, Sentence case, and aLtErNaTiNg case. Paste or type your text, press a button, and the text in the box is transformed in place.

It saves time when you paste a headline typed in capitals, clean up text copied from a PDF, prepare titles for a blog post, or fix a paragraph that was written with caps lock on. A live character and word count sits under the text box and a Copy button puts the result on your clipboard.

How to use the Text Case Converter

  1. Paste or type your text into the box.
  2. Click the case you want: UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case, Sentence case or aLtErNaTiNg.
  3. Check the result in the same box. Click another button to transform it again.
  4. Click Copy Text to copy the result, or Clear to start over.

The text updates immediately, with no page reload.

Live counts

Characters and words are counted as you edit.

Private

Text is processed in your browser and never uploaded.

When it is useful

  • Fixing text that was accidentally typed with caps lock on.
  • Formatting blog titles and headings in Title Case.
  • Converting text pasted from a PDF or spreadsheet to sentence case.
  • Creating all-caps labels or all-lowercase tags and URLs.

Good to know

  • Title Case capitalises the first letter of every word. It does not apply style-guide rules such as keeping "of" or "the" lowercase, so check headings against your style guide.
  • Sentence case capitalises the first letter after a full stop, question mark or exclamation mark, and lowercases the rest. Proper nouns and acronyms will be lowercased and need manual correction.
  • Converting to lowercase or uppercase cannot be undone automatically, so keep a copy of the original if you need it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.What is the difference between Title Case and Sentence case?
Title Case capitalises the first letter of every word ("The Quick Brown Fox"). Sentence case capitalises only the first letter of each sentence ("The quick brown fox.").
Q.Will Title Case keep small words like "of" and "the" lowercase?
No, this tool capitalises every word. If your style guide wants small words lowercase, adjust them by hand afterwards.
Q.Does it handle proper nouns in Sentence case?
No. Everything except the first letter of each sentence is lowercased, so names, places and acronyms need to be recapitalised manually.
Q.Is my text uploaded?
No. Conversion happens in your browser.
Q.Is there a text length limit?
No fixed limit. Extremely large texts may slow down your browser.
Q.What is alternating case used for?
It is mostly stylistic, such as for memes or playful emphasis. It alternates lower and upper case letters character by character.
