Age Calculator

Calculate your exact age in years, months, and days on any date. Also shows total weeks, days, and hours, plus a countdown to your next birthday.

About Age Calculator

The Age Calculator works out exactly how old someone is, down to years, months and days, from a date of birth. You can also set a different "age at" date to find out how old a person was, or will be, on a particular day, which is what most forms, school admissions and eligibility checks actually ask for.

Besides the main result, the tool shows your age as totals in months, weeks, days, hours and minutes, the weekday you were born on, and how long remains until your next birthday. Everything is calculated in your browser from the dates you enter, so no personal information is sent anywhere.

How to use the Age Calculator

  1. Enter the date of birth in the Date of Birth field.
  2. Leave "Age at the Date of" on today, or pick another date to calculate the age on that day.
  3. Click Calculate Age.
  4. Read your current age in years, months and days, then scroll to the breakdown for total months, weeks, days, hours and minutes and the countdown to the next birthday.

What it can do

Years, months and days

Gives the complete age rather than just a rounded number of years.

Age on any date

Choose a past or future date to check eligibility cut-offs, such as age on 1 September for school entry.

Age breakdown

See total months, weeks, days, hours and minutes lived.

Next birthday countdown

Shows how many months and days remain until the next birthday and the weekday you were born on.

When it is useful

  • Checking whether a child meets a school admission age cut-off on a given date.
  • Confirming age for passport, visa, insurance or job application forms.
  • Working out how long ago an event happened, such as a wedding anniversary or employment start date.
  • Finding out the weekday you were born on, or how many days old a baby is.

Good to know

  • Leap-year birthdays (29 February) are handled by the underlying date arithmetic, but different organisations treat 28 February or 1 March as the non-leap-year birthday, so check their rule for legal purposes.
  • Results use your device date and time zone. Edge cases around midnight can differ by a day if your device clock is wrong.
  • For official documents, always rely on the issuing authority’s own calculation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.How is age calculated in years, months and days?
The tool counts complete years from the date of birth, then complete months after that, then the remaining days up to the chosen date. It follows the calendar, so months of different length are handled correctly.
Q.Can I calculate my age on a past or future date?
Yes. Change the "Age at the Date of" field to any date. This is useful for eligibility rules that refer to a fixed date.
Q.How does it handle leap years?
The calculation uses real calendar dates, so leap years are accounted for in totals such as days lived. For a 29 February birthday, check whether the organisation you are dealing with counts the birthday on 28 February or 1 March in common years.
Q.Does it show how many days until my next birthday?
Yes. The result includes the months and days remaining until your next birthday.
Q.Is my date of birth stored or sent anywhere?
No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser and the date is not transmitted.
Q.Can I find the day of the week I was born?
Yes, the result shows the weekday of your date of birth.
Q.Why does my result differ by a day from another calculator?
Differences usually come from time zones or whether the end date is counted. Make sure both calculators use the same dates and the same convention.
