About GPA Calculator
The GPA Calculator computes your Grade Point Average on the standard 4.0 scale. Add each course with its credit hours and your letter grade, and the tool weights them by credits to give a cumulative GPA, along with the total number of courses and credits.
It is designed for students planning a semester, checking whether they can reach a target GPA, or comparing the effect of different grades. A reference table shows how letter grades map to grade points.
How to use the GPA Calculator
- Enter each course. The course name is optional but helps you keep track.
- Enter the credit hours for the course.
- Select the letter grade you received or expect.
- Use Add Another Course for more rows, then click Calculate GPA.
- Read your GPA, total credits and course count. Use Reset All to start again.
What it can do
4.0 scale
Supports plus and minus grades from A+ (4.0) down to F (0.0), such as A- = 3.7 and B+ = 3.3.
Credit weighting
A 4-credit course counts more than a 1-credit course, as it does on a transcript.
Multiple courses
Add as many rows as you need for a semester or a whole degree.
Reference table
Shows how each grade converts to points so you can double-check.
When it is useful
- Estimating your end-of-semester GPA before official grades are released.
- Testing "what if" grades to see what you need to reach a scholarship or honours threshold.
- Preparing numbers for university or job applications that ask for a GPA.
Good to know
- Schools differ: some use plus/minus grades, weighted honours or AP courses, or a different scale. Check how your institution calculates GPA.
- The tool computes a GPA for the courses you enter. Include all previous courses if you want a cumulative GPA.
- Your official transcript is the authoritative record.
